The FIVB has signed a contract for the television production and world-wide distribution of Beach Volleyball news and highlights packages with Sports TV Media Distribution, an Austrian based international television production and distribution company.
The contract covers television production, coordination, on-site consulting and international distribution for the 2002 Beach Volleyball World Tour.
‘The Sports TV Media Distributions involvement in last year’s successful FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships proved that they are leaders in their field,’ said FIVB President Dr. Rubén Acosta. ‘We are absolutely committed to the global promotion of Beach Volleyball and the television deal is a vital part of our new comprehensive media campaign already underway for the 2002 season.’
Othmar Valzacchi, Sports TV Media Distribution’s President and General Manager said his company would create, in close co-operation with the FIVB, World Tour host broadcasters and promoters, top class television production and distribution.
‘We want to reach a world-wide TV audience for live and semi-live production of the Beach Volleyball World Tour events, as well as supplying television networks throughout the world with quality news and highlights packages,’ Valzacchi said. The TV signal of the 2001 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Klagenfurt, Austria was broadcast in 162 countries.
Valzacchi has worked as TV producer for host broadcasters for such major sporting events as the Austrian Formula One Grand Prix and the World Alpine Ski Championships 2001.
Angelo Squeo, FIVB Beach Volleyball Coordinator said that Sports TV Media Distribution will produce highlight shows of 52 minutes each for each of the Grand Slam events at Marseille, France (17-21 July), and Klagenfurt, Austria (31 July – 4 August), with eight additional, 26-minute highlight shows packaging the other 17 World Tour events.
