The BBC today was granted a High Court Order to stop Radio station TalkSport from labelling its coverage as ‘live’ and representing that it held live broadcast rights to the UEFA 2000 European Championships.

TalkSport gave undertakings not to promote its coverage as ‘live’ or ‘official’ and to make clear that their commentators were watching the game on television away from the stadium.

Exclusive radio rights to the 31-match tournament in Holland and Belgium are held nationally by BBC Radio 5 Live and the Capital Radio group of local stations.

The BBC has reserved the right to take further action.
