Republic’s Largest Local Bank Partners Singapore Sports Council for the POSB Everyday Champions Award 2009

Singapore, 3 November 2008 – The sporting landscape in Singapore continues to benefit from the growing trend of more local organisations jumping on the bandwagon in sports sponsorship.

The latest entry into sports sponsorship is POSB, the largest local bank in Singapore, the title sponsor for the newly launched POSB Everyday Champions Award 2009, aimed at recognising everyday individuals and organisations that have consistently gone beyond their call of duty and responsibility, so that others can enjoy sports and grow through sports.

POSB’s commitment to the title sponsorship is for three years. The sponsorship value for the first year is S$1.4 million.

Having served generations of Singaporeans, POSB hopes to draw on their close connection with Singaporeans from all walks of life to drive keen interest in the award.

The POSB Everyday Champions Award 2009 comprises three categories:

Individuals
These people motivate, inspire and inject zest to the lives of others by encouraging and empowering them to engage in sports.

Coaches
These coaches go the extra mile and give of themselves beyond their expected roles and responsibilities. They are both mentor and friend, nurturing in others the same passion they have for their sport, bringing out the best in them both on and off the playing field.

Organisations
These are organisations that go beyond their core businesses to facilitate and build an active sports culture at work.
