Austria’s ORF to Broadcast Dance Sport Events

The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, ORF, will broadcast all 2001 IDSF / IMG events via its own sports channel ‘TW1’. This satellite channel, ‘ASTRA 1G’, can be seen Europe-wide.

Johannes Biba, IDSF Communications Director, initiated the deal between ORF and IMG/TWI last November at the Austrian Open in Vienna, where he showed senior staff of this TV station the ‘revised competition format’ with solo dances.

The editorial staff was full with enthusiasm about the solo dances, asking why this format had not been used previously.

Then the editorial office decided to sign the contract with the Joint Venture between IDSF and Mark McCormack’s IMG/TWI, which will produce a tape of each Championship for final editing and dubbing by ORF.

In 2001, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, ORF, will broadcast at ‘TW1’ the following IDSF Championships some days after the event:

IDSF European Standard
IDSF European Latin
IDSF World Standard
IDSF World Latin
IDSF World 10 Dance
