Australian Archer Resigns from Olympic Team After Positive Drug Test

SYDNEY— Jackson Fear has stepped down from his position on the Australian Archery Team after he tested positive to cannabis in a drug test taken during the National Championships in May at Adelaide.

Fear was named official reserve for the equipe and is believed to have been notified of the positive test result last week and immediately sent his resignation to the national organization.

The Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA) ran the testing controls at the event but has as yet not determined the sanctions. Archery Australia is waiting for ASDA to officially notify them to take action.

Twenty two year old Fear marks the second archery athlete this year to drop out of competition following US double gold medal winner Justin Huish, who was charged of felony possession with intent to sell when 4.5 ounces of marijuana and 4.2 ounces of hashish oil was found in his Chaps Court home in California.
