At the request of the IOC, the Greek Government and ATHOC have reviewed the construction plans for the roof of the swimming pool. We came to the conclusion that, due to delayed planning, the timely completion of the roof was not guaranteed and that this could jeopardize the running of the competitions.

The IOC has been informed and asked the Greek Government and ATHOC to work on contingency plans without the roof to ensure that there will be no negative effects for the athletes, the sport and the broadcasters.
