The draw for the Lebanon 2000 Asian Cup, which sees the top national sides from Asia competing for the title of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) champion, has been made in Malaysia and pits the region’s strongest teams against one another in the Beiruit.

The 12 teams who have qualified for the finals, which are being held in Lebanon from the 12th – 29th October, have been drawn into three groups of four for the first round, with the strongest eight progressing to the quarter final stage. The current champions Saudi Arabia and Japan, who have also dominated previous Asian Cup championships, have been drawn together in the same group.
