Adidas Canada Reaffirms its Support of Athletics (Toronto, ON) Edmonton 2001 World Championships in Athletics (local organizing committee), adidas Canada and Athletics Canada are very pleased to announce that adidas Canada will be the title sponsor of the 2001 adidas Canadian Track and Field Championships, June 22-24 in Edmonton, AB.

The sponsorship is consistent with adidas’ commitment to promoting athletics in Canada and worldwide. adidas is involved in a many activities at all levels of athletics, from grass roots and development programs to international competitions. adidas Canada has been a tremendous supporter of athletics in Canada and is currently in its second year of a five year contract as an official sponsor of Athletics Canada.

It is not only the Trials for the Jeux de la Francophonie but it will play an important role in determining the team that will represent Canada at the 8th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, August 3rd though 12th in Edmonton.

The Canadian championships will be presented by Edmonton 2001, the local organizing committee for The World’s. Hosting these Championships gives the Edmonton 2001 organizing committee the opportunity to test operational areas that will be critical when hosting the World Championships in Athletics in August.

The IAAF World Championships in Athletics is the third-largest sporting event on the planet, based on a worldwide television audience of four billion viewers expected to tune in during the ten days of competition.

The World’s is third in scope only to the Summer Olympics and World Cup of Soccer.
