Lausanne, Switzerland – March 21st, 2017 – Building on three very successful editions organised in 2014-2016, Smart Cities & Sport is pleased to announce that the fourth edition of its yearly Summit will be organised in Montreal, Canada October 2-4. The Summit will return to Lausanne in 2018.

This year, the Smart Cities & Sport Summit is going abroad, while keeping the same ambition: to provide a platform for cities to learn, share and connect around smart and effective strategies that connect them with sport. By seizing the opportunity of being in Montreal, the Summit will be able to offer a unique North American touch to its programme! Speakers will therefore include representatives from the American professional sports leagues who will discuss the various opportunities they can provide to cities from all around the world.

The Summit will be organised alongside the 2017 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships! The city will be buzzing with sport the first week of October, providing the perfect setting for the 2017 edition of the Smart Cities & Sport Summit.

Mrs. Mélanie Duparc, Secretary General of the World Union of Olympic Cities, the organisation behind the Smart Cities and Sport Summit, commented: “We are very excited to launch this fourth edition of our conference, the first one organised outside Lausanne. With its mix of North American and European cultures and its great sport history, Montreal offers the perfect setting to discuss how sport and cities can interact in a smarter and more sustainable way. I am convinced that we can again come up with new, fresh and smart ideas on how to combine sport events and sustainable urban development.”

More information about the programme, speakers and additional activities will be launched over the coming months. See also: www.smartcitiesandsport.org/smart-cities-and-sport-summit/
