DAZN to show World Cup in Spain through Mediapro distribution deal

The platform will exclusively distribute Mediapro’s Spanish pay-television channel for the World Cup, broadcasting all 104 matches.

DAZN, the international sports streaming platform, has secured pay-TV rights to soccer’s showpiece 2026 FIFA World Cup in Spain through a deal with sports agency Mediapro.

As part of the agreement, DAZN will exclusively distribute Mediapro’s Spanish pay-television channel for the World Cup, broadcasting all 104 matches.

Mediapro acquired the pay-TV rights to the World Cup in March 2025, while Spanish public-service broadcaster RTVE secured the free-to-air package.

In September, the agency agreed a deal with RTVE to acquire the pay-TV rights to the entire 2026 World Cup.

That deal granted Mediapro exclusive rights to 71 of the 104 World Cup games, with non-exclusive coverage rights for the remaining 33 games.

Like the 2022 World Cup, Mediapro will distribute these rights via a 24/7 dedicated World Cup streaming channel, Gol Mundial, which is now available on DAZN under a sub-licensing deal.

The tie-up with Mediapro will see DAZN broadcast the World Cup for the first time, providing live and on-demand coverage, including matches featuring the Spanish national team, who are among the favourites to win the competition.

The 2026 World Cup will be held between June 11 and July 19 in 16 stadiums across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This year’s edition of the major tournament will be the first to feature an expanded 48 teams.

The tie-up enhances DAZN’s soccer portfolio in Spain, which includes the domestic top-flight LaLiga, England’s Premier League, Italy’s Serie A, and the German Bundesliga.

In addition, the OTT platform also has a strategic partnership with FIFA that will include the global relaunch of the FIFA+ streaming service this year.
