Wasserman, the international sports agency, has rebranded to ‘The Team’ amid the fallout of founder Casey Wasserman’s presence in the US Government’s Epstein files and subsequent sales process of the company.

A statement on the agency’s new website said: “As of today, Wasserman is rebranding as THE·TEAM and you can now find us at the.team.

“For 24 years, this company has been shaped by our work, our people, and our unifying belief in the power of sports, music, and entertainment. That philosophy remains the foundation of who we are – and where we are going. We go forward as we always have: Together.

“We remain completely focused on serving our clients with the same professionalism that has always been our standard.”

The rebrand comes after Wasserman announced last month he would sell the agency after it emerged that he flew on convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein’s private plane and exchanged flirtatious emails with associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year jail sentence for the sex trafficking of minors, in 2003.

Wasserman has denied having a personal or business relationship with Epstein. He has previously apologized for his association with Maxwell, saying their relationship came before her or Epstein's crimes were revealed.

However, the fallout saw calls for Wasserman’s resignation as chair of the organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and several high-profile clients ending their relationship with the agency, including US women’s soccer player Abby Wambach.

In announcing the sale, Wasserman told employees via a memo last month: “I'm deeply sorry that my past personal mistakes have caused you so much discomfort.

"It’s not fair to you, and it's not fair to the clients and partners we represent so vigorously and care so deeply about.”

Interest in Wasserman’s business empire is expected to be high, given its high-profile client list of sports players and musicians, with rival talent agencies including CAA, UTA, and WME seen as potential bidders. However, it is not clear if Wasserman will be sold whole or in pieces.

The agency has been in operation for more than 20 years and currently employs approximately 4,000 staff.

Over the past two decades, it has developed into one of the largest talent companies in the US through a series of acquisitions, most recently bolstering its presence in Europe by securing the soccer division of Danish talent representation firm People in Sport and acquiring Barcelona-based Umik Sport Management.

Other talent agencies bought by Wasserman recently include Momentum Hockey, digital creator agency Long Haul Management, and Ireland-based athlete management firm Line Up Sports.

Wasserman, meanwhile, will continue as the chair of LA28, with the committee last month stating: “We found Mr. Wasserman's relationship with Epstein and Maxwell did not go beyond what has already been publicly documented."

The board has said it conducted a review of the situation, with assistance from an external legal firm, before concluding that he should stay on.
