German automotive giant Volkswagen has become the latest brand to step-in as a sponsor of soccer’s upcoming 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championships (WEURO2025).

As an official global partner of the tournament, Volkswagen will gain prominent branding presence across the quadrennial event, including advertising on LED pitch-side hoardings and media backdrops during interviews.

Furthermore, the pair will collaborate on co-branded soccer-based activations around the tournament, specifically positioning its all-electric ID. range of vehicles at the forefront of the partnership.

Speaking on the deal, UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein commented on Volkswagen’s impact in aiding the tournament’s delivery, and potential grassroots growth in the women’s game, stating: “As the tournament kicks off soon across Switzerland, this partnership helps us not only deliver a record-breaking competition but also drive meaningful investment into the growth of women’s football and create more opportunities for women and girls at every level of the sport.” 

The Women's Euro is being held in Switzerland between July 2 and 27, with venues ranging in capacity from the 9,570-seat Stade de Tourbillon to the 35,689-seater St. Jakob-Park, which will host the final.

Volkswagen previously sponsored the 2022 Women’s Euro (which was delayed from 2021 due to Covid-19).

Additionally, the car manufacturer also sponsors multiple national soccer federations, including seven of those that will compete in WEURO2025, most recent among these being Italy, which renewed its tie-up with the brand in March with a deal that also covers the men’s national side.

Other major partners of WEURO2025 in the global sponsor tier include Adidas, Amazon, AXA, Booking.com, EA Sports, Euronics, Grifols, Heineken, Hublot, Just Eat Takeaway, Lay’s (via PepsiCo), Lidl, PlayStation, and Visa, which was UEFA’s first standalone women’s sponsor.
