Accor, the French hotel operator, has become an official partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games, through a deal with the events’ organising committee announced today.

The group will “offer its services to athletes and the media in their respective villages” and will also provide a booking platform for accredited personnel to book Paris accommodation during the games.

Accor has said it will “cover the whole French hotel market around Olympic and Paralympic venues to make it easier to book hotel rooms and guarantee a seamless, efficient customer experience throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

The facilities made available to accredited personnel have been developed in partnership with the French tourism industry.

In terms of the athletes’ and media village's service management, Accor will “enable the athletes and media representatives to enjoy the high quality of service provided and therefore benefit from optimal services and facilities during the competition period.”

The site will offer Olympic-based rewards for its members as well, through the Accor Live Limitless program, which also has partnerships in place with the Paris Saint-Germain heavyweight soccer team, and with tennis’ French Open.

Sebastien Bazin, Accor’s chairman and chief executive, said: “Accor is proud to partner with the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 when athletes and spectators from the world over will come to France to see what we have to offer. Our employees and teams are already pulling out all the stops to show the world what hospitality means in France and offer everyone an unforgettable experience and stay during the greatest sporting event on the planet.”

Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024, added: “This partnership marks the culmination of our close collaboration with one of the world’s leading hotel groups, right since the bidding phase. It reiterates our shared objective to offer all those involved in the Olympic and Paralympic Games – the athletes, officials and media – service and experience that reflects our special take on hospitality in France.”

Accor joins Paris 2024 commercial partners such as Coca-Cola, Omega, Intel P&G, Visa, Toyota, EDF and PWC.

Last month, hospitality company Sodexo became an official partner of Paris 2024.

Through the agreement, its subsidiary Sodexo Live will provide catering for the 14,850 competitors at the Olympic Village, as well as for the public across 15 Olympic competition venues around Paris.

In addition, Sodexo Live will assist the games in its mission to reach its environmental and social goals.

The total planned sponsorship revenue for Paris 2024 is €1.1 billion ($1.3 billion).

Last week meanwhile, it was announced that Accor would manage the accommodation for visiting fans at soccer’s 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

Accor will manage Qatar’s real estate portfolio until the end of 2022.

Reuters reports that the agreement will see Accor “provide staff and manage more than 60,000 rooms in apartments and villas scattered across the Gulf Arab state”.

Fatma al-Nuaimi, head of communications at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, has been quoted as saying that Qatar, which a population of only around 2.75 million, is hoping to attract 1.2 million visitors during the World Cup, which will run from 21 November to 18 December next year.
