The firm has been brought in to help manage the "commercial, operational, and regulatory complexities" around LA28, which will take place between July 14 and 30 (Olympics) and August 15 and 27 (Paralympics).
Sidley will provide various interdisciplinary teams to the organizing body behind the Olympics and Paralympics.
This deal adds to the two other legal services tie-ups also struck by LA28 – Los Angeles-based Gibson Dunn and Cooley are both already in situ as partners in this category.
Elisabeth Freinberg, chief legal officer at LA28, commented: "Delivering the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a complex and multifaceted undertaking requiring legal counsel across a range of disciplines. Sidley leads in bringing to bear talented interdisciplinary teams to help clients navigate such complexity. This approach positions us well to support LA28 as it prepares to deliver the games."
In terms of recent LA28 commercial activity, security equipment and systems firm Rapiscan was unveiled as an event sponsor in late August. LA-based Rapiscan has become the official provider of physical screening and security technology hardware/software solutions for both the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as an official supporter of Team USA.
Founding partners for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, meanwhile, include Comcast, JPMorgan Chase, Delta, Google, Honda, Intuit, Korn Ferry, and Starbucks.
