Golf's top-tier DP World Tour has brought on board energy solutions and wind turbine brand Vestas as a new commercial partner, in a deal running through 2027.

Through a deal unveiled today, Denmark-based Vestas specifically becomes the tour's official wind energy solutions partner and will also sponsor four events on the tour each year.

Vestas now joins the likes of Rolex and BMW on the list of top-tier tour marketing partners.

Max Hamilton, the DP World Tour's executive commercial director, said: "Vestas are regularly referenced as one of the most sustainable companies in the world and our own sustainability credentials were a big draw for them when deciding on their next sports partnership.

"The DP World Tour’s partnership family is enjoying strong momentum, with revenues growing by 90% in just five years, and this partnership is another example of a globally minded organization recognizing the power of golf to grow its brand internationally.”

In terms of DP World Tour commercial activity, earlier this week, the property brought in Swedish robotic lawnmowing specialist Husqvarna as a sponsor, also through 2027.

Husqvarna becomes an official partner of two DP World Tour events – the Amgen Irish Open and the Betfred British Masters (both on the Back 9 swing) – and a corporate partner of another tournament, the BMW International Open (held during the European Swing).

The deal will also involve using DP World Tour events "as test beds for the latest sustainable power solutions," such as through solar and hydrogen power.

Late last month, the DP World Tour unveiled a new Indian tournament, to take place for the first time in Delhi in October with a total prize fund of $4 million.
