Motul, the France-based producer of oil and lubricants, has renewed its long-standing commercial deal with motorcycling’s top-tier MotoGP and its commercial representative Dorna Sports for another five years.

Along with continued title sponsorship of MotoGP’s Grand Prix (GP) of Japan and (season-ending) Valencia GP, the renewal will see Motul engaging in a wide range of fan and digital campaigns throughout each season.

Andreea Culcea, Motul’s chief brand and communication officer, has said: “The renewal of our partnership with MotoGP demonstrates our long-term commitment to competition and innovation.

“Being part of the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship allows us to embody what it means to be a co-creator of performance, working alongside the very best to continually push the limits of technology and passion.”

The deal builds on the pair’s partnership, which started more than 15 years ago, with the new agreement to take the relationship to two decades.

The oil brand first entered MotoGP as title sponsor of the 2014 Grand Prix of Japan, expanding its association to add title sponsorships for races in the Netherlands (2015) and Argentina (2016).

Motul has also been a prominent sponsor of the World Superbike Championship, owned and organized by Dorna WSBK Organization, a subsidiary of Dorna Sports, since 2016 and has supported endurance racing with the 24Hrs of Le Mans race.

Dan Rossomondo, chief commercial officer at Dorna Sports, said: “They [Motul] are a longstanding partner and bring more than sponsorship to the sport – together we’ve created exciting fan events, focused campaigns, and launched some innovative products.

“Grands Prix like the season finale in Valencia, with Motul as title sponsor, are a blueprint for what we want to see going forward – a weekend full of different activities that leaves no doubt Valencia was the place to be.”

In September, Motul announced it would return to motor racing’s elite Formula 1 (F1) after signing a partnership with McLaren Racing, becoming an official supplier for the team from the 2026 campaign.

Motul has a long-standing affiliation with F1 and sponsored both the Williams and BRFM F1 teams in the 1970s, but has been away from the category for several years, with this McLaren deal marking its return to the elite series.
