OneFootball expands CBF partnership to include video content

The CBF will provide behind-the-scenes footage and interviews of top players in Brazil’s national teams.

Brazilian soccer’s CBF governing body has expanded its partnership with OneFootball, with the soccer streaming service to distribute premium video content to Brazilian fans around the world.

Under the upgraded deal, the CBF will provide behind-the-scenes footage and interviews of top players in Brazil’s national teams, which will be shared across OneFootball’s website and app, as well as on the service’s publisher network of over 250 publishers through the OneFootball Player.

Initial content will include the men’s national team’s journey throughout the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It will also include behind-the-scenes coverage of the women’s national team and youth teams.

CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues said: “This partnership with OneFootball makes us proud and reinforces our commitment to offer content to fans of the national team around the world.”

The new deal builds on OneFootball’s existing agreement with CBF struck last year, which saw original content and all official CBF website editorial made available on the app and website of OneFootball, which claims to have 100 million users per month.

All Brazilian men’s, women’s, and youth national team news, statistics, and live scores were made available globally, with breaking news sent instantly by push notification to all app users or segmented user groups.

CBF became the first national federation to join OneFootball, which has partnerships with prominent clubs including Manchester City, Real Madrid, Leeds United, AS Monaco, and Shalke04.

Tom Mueller, vice president of partnerships at OneFootball, said: “With the world gearing up for the World Cup, it is an honor to expand our partnership with the CBF.

“Our fans can now enjoy video content from the most famous national football team in the world, but also elite teams in all age groups and in women’s football.

“This partnership helps OneFootball deliver on our promise to bring fans closer than anyone else, and our partners close to their fans.

“By helping the CBF reach an even wider global audience, we can also bring fans closer to some of the biggest teams in world football.”

The platform has strategically developed a presence in the Brazilian market over the past year with several deals struck in recent months.

In May, OneFootball gained highlights rights to Brazilian top-flight Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A and second-tier Brasileiro Serie B, as well as the Copa, do Brasil knockout cup competition through an agreement with Brazilian commercial broadcasting giant Globo.

In January, OneFootball agreed a deal to show matches in the Campeonato Carioca, the competition for clubs in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, and signed a two-year broadcast agreement with Brazilian streaming service NSports to acquire live coverage of the Campeonato Paranaense and Campeonato Catarinens competitions (equivalent to the Carioca for other Brazilian states) for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

In October last year, OneFootball entered a global content partnership with top-flight club Bahia to publish all of the club’s digital content, including all news, statistics, and live results.

The portal also has club partnerships in Brazil with Corinthians, Santos, Red Bull Bragantino, and Internacional, as well as a tie-up with the Brazilian Football Confederation.

In April, meanwhile, OneFootball entered into a new multi-territory distribution partnership for the Brasileirão Serie A.

As part of that deal, struck with the league’s worldwide distribution partner, the South American marketing agency 1190 Sports, OneFootball is streaming live matches from Serie A to subscribers in over 100 countries worldwide, including France, the UK, Spain, and various countries in Southeast Asia.
