MotoGP races will continue to be staged at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia until 2031 after the elite motorcycle racing series finalized a new contract with the country’s government.
Malaysia has held MotoGP races since 1991, with the Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur hosting since 1999.

The series claims the Malaysian Grand Prix is now “one of the biggest sporting events in Southeast Asia.” The 2025 edition recorded the highest attendance in its history, with a total of 190,977 spectators.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, MotoGP CEO, said: “Malaysia is an important market for MotoGP, where we have a strong fanbase and have seen the positive economic impact of MotoGP increase year-on-year. Now, we aim to grow both exponentially.”
Last month, MotoGP struck a renewed deal with North Eastern Spain’s Aragon Government for the Aragon Grand Prix race to take place at the MotorLand Aragon circuit next year.
The hosting agreement cements the Aragon Grand Prix’s place on next year’s calendar, the first season that will feature new 850cc’ Pirelli machines, but the venue will then become an ‘official reserve circuit’ from 2028 to 2031.
In other key recent developments, MotoGP extended membership agreements through to 2031 with all 11 of its participating teams last week, following quickly on from a new framework agreement – for the same period – with the five participating MotoGP manufacturers.
The 11 teams are all now confirmed as MotoGP participants for the next five years.
Meanwhile, the ‘concorde’ commercial agreement lays out the competitive and commercial governance of the next cycle of MotoGP racing, ensuring the promotion and its competing manufacturers will continue to collaborate for the competitive and commercial advancement of the sport.
The series also recently appointed CAA Sports as its new global sponsorship agency.
CAA will work with MotoGP to strike new commercial partnerships in a range of global markets and in new product categories.
The 2026 season got underway at the start of March in Thailand and runs through until the final race of the season in Valencia, Spain, in late November.
