UK pay-TV heavyweight Sky has extended its rights in that market to golf's iconic Ryder Cup tournament – contested between Team Europe and Team USA – through the 2029 edition.

Alongside renewing its rights to that biennial competition, Sky will also carry on as the UK broadcaster of European golf's DP World Tour for the same length of time.

The last tie-up for the Ryder Cup and DP World Tour on Sky was unveiled in early 2022.

The Ryder Cup element of the deal means Sky will exclusively show the next two editions of the tournament, taking place at Adare Manor, Ireland, in 2027, and Hazeltine, US, in 2029.

This tie-up follows this year's edition of the Ryder Cup – won by the Europeans – bringing record viewing figures in for Sky. Across the three-day event, five million viewers tuned in, with the final session of the event attracting the largest-ever audience for golf on Sky.

Sky will also continue as the UK broadcast partner for the DP World Tour, which will visit 25 countries in 2026.

Jonathan Licht, chief sports officer at Sky, has said: "Extending our long-standing partnership with the DP World Tour comes at a time when golf viewership is reaching record heights. This year’s Ryder Cup … once again proved why it remains one of the most compelling events in world sport, and we look forward to bringing fans the next two."

Golf is one of the key sports for Sky – the pay-TV broadcaster also airs all four men's major events each year, all five women's majors annually, as well as the US golf's top-tier PGA Tour.

Guy Kinnings, the DP World Tour's chief executive, added: "As golf’s global Tour, the DP World Tour’s unparalleled diversity of locations and players is really resonating with fans, with an increased viewership on Sky Sports this season and increased spectator numbers at our events. This year’s Ryder Cup also reinforced that golf’s greatest team contest produces the levels of drama that few other sporting events can match."

In terms of recent activity for the tour, global logistics heavyweight DP World extended its major title sponsorship deal covering the property for the next decade, earlier this week.

The property will continue to be known as the DP World Tour until 2035.
