The next three seasons of Spanish soccer's top-flight LaLiga will be broadcast in France by a combination of Disney+ and DAZN through new agreements announced today.

Every game from the 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29 campaigns of the 20-team league will be shown live on both the Disney+ and DAZN (which also airs LaLiga domestically) streaming services, for a French audience.

The streaming platforms take over, collectively, from Qatar-based BeIN Sports, which has broadcast LaLiga in France for around 15 years. The last deal between BeIN and LaLiga was a two-season affair covering the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

A plethora of French national team stars currently play for LaLiga sides – including Jules Kounde at champions Barcelona, and Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Eduardo Camavinga at heavyweight rivals Real Madrid.

The deal comes with the 2026-27 LaLiga season set to get underway on August 15.

From a BeIN point of view, Sportcal understands the broadcaster believes that to match the Disney+ and DAZN offers would have seen it pay over the odds for these rights.

It is also understood that BeIN is still confident about the appeal of its overall soccer rights portfolio in France – it has just covered the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and has deals in place to cover the 2030 edition of the tournament, as well as the 2028 UEFA European Championships.

Javier Tebas, the Spanish league's controversial and colorful president, commented: "We are delighted to begin this new chapter with two outstanding partners who share our ambition to deliver the best possible experience for football fans."

Domestically, LaLiga will be covered next season predominantly by DAZN and Movistar, through deals dating back to late 2021.

Earlier this week, meanwhile, an exclusive, four-season, rights deal between the Spanish league and Migu, the state-owned Chinese streaming service, was announced.

Late June also saw DAZN extend its rights deal in France covering Italian soccer's top-tier Serie A, with that new agreement also running through 2028-29.

Disney+, up until this point, has not had much of a sports rights presence in the French market, unlike in some other European countries.

However, it does already carry action from LaLiga in a range of international markets, including the UK, the US, and the Nordic region.

Elsewhere in LaLiga, it has been reported that the current ownership at Sevilla have rejected a takeover bid of €420 million ($484.7 million) from Riverside Management Group (RMG).

The five families who between them own 85% of Sevilla – the Carrión, Castro, Del Nido, Alés, and Guijarro families – reportedly rejected the offer because it did not include a specific clause prohibiting former player Sergio Ramos from involvement in the deal.

This has been reported by Spanish media as an 'anti-Ramos' clause, after the Sevilla legend was unsuccessful in his own takeover attempt earlier this year.

Sevilla recently hired Goldman Sachs to help find a buyer, with the club losing €54.06 million in 2024-25 – the most recent accounts available. Their revenue also fell sharply in 2024-25.

On the pitch, Sevilla – whose current owners are extremely unpopular with the fanbase – are also enduring a difficult period, having finished 14th, 17th, and 13th (in that order) in the last three seasons, after spending much of the previous two decades inside LaLiga's top 10.
