Cariaga has experience across sports, media, and global events, with a focus on strategic partnerships and rights management.
He spent over 20 years at Getty Images, most recently as senior director of sports and entertainment (EMEA), where he led partnerships across the Olympic and Paralympic events and managed relationships with major rightsholders and brands.
Before Getty, Cariaga held a senior commercial role at IMG, overseeing the International Olympic Committee account.
Greenfly said Cariaga’s experience across commercial strategy, content licensing, and global partner engagement will help the company “continue scaling in the EMEA region as more leagues and organizations turn to short-form content to drive deeper fan engagement, elevate athlete visibility, and unlock new revenue streams.”

By GlobalDataNick Shaw, Greenfly managing director of EMEA, said: “Expanding our footprint in EMEA takes more than a great product, it requires deep relationships and on-the-ground expertise.
“Eugene’s track record working with some of the world’s biggest sporting events and rightsholders makes him an invaluable addition to our team. I’m looking forward to working closely with him to help partners across the region build the infrastructure needed to connect with today’s audiences and unlock the full potential of their short-form content.”
Cariaga added: “I’ve followed Greenfly’s evolution closely over the past decade during my time at Getty, and I’m excited to join the company that’s shaping the future of content in sports and entertainment.
“As short-form content continues to become of increasing importance to how fans connect with their favorite players, teams, and brands in real time, Greenfly’s technology is powering how rightsholders deliver that experience at scale. The EMEA team they’ve assembled is world-class, and I’m thrilled to now work alongside them as we continue to expand across the region.”
Earlier this month, Greenfly announced a multi-year partnership with the 2025 Esports World Cup to serve as a unified content hub for all 25 of its competitions.
California-based Greenfly has deals in sports with several major sports leagues, including German soccer’s Bundesliga, basketball’s NBA, ice hockey’s NHL, and Major League Baseball. The firm’s platform is also used by rugby union’s Six Nations and SailGP.
