Genius Sports, the international sports data technology company, saw its revenues rise and its losses fall year-on-year (YoY) during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025.
During the three months up to March 31, group revenue increased by 20% YoY to $143.9 million, with group net loss falling by 67.9% to $8.1 million.
Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), meanwhile, came to $19.7 million, as opposed to $6.8 million following the first quarter of 2024.
In two of the three revenue arms – betting technology, content and services, and sports technology and services – revenues increased year-on-year, by 44% and 12%, respectively.
The betting sector increase, to $106.5 million, has been attributed to "price increases on contract renewals and renegotiations."
However, in the media technology, content, and services division, income decreased by 27%. This has been ascribed to "lower programmatic and social advertising services," compared to the equivalent period last year.

By GlobalDataIn terms of the financial outlook for the whole of 2025, Genius has said that it expects to generate around $620 million in total group revenue, and that its group-adjusted EBITDA will be in the region of $125 million.
Quarterly activity included the unveiling of a partnership, focused on women's sports engagement, with the Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment xx, as well as the launching of a new data-driven broadcast mode for French soccer's Ligue 1 through a multi-aspect tie-up with the Infront sports marketing agency.
Mark Locke, co-founder and chief executive at Genius Sports, said: "This quarter demonstrates the strong execution of our strategic objectives, as we continue our technology distribution, product innovation, and commercial momentum. Our largely fixed cost base, coupled with several durable growth drivers, reinforces our confidence in delivering sustainable growth, profitability, and cash flow."
The firm's full-year 2024 results, made public in early March, saw revenue rise 23.7% year-on-year, and the group's net loss decrease from $85.5 million to $63 million.
Earlier this month, Genius launched a soccer-specific in-game wagering tool to be used by sportsbooks.
The product, BetVision for Soccer, has been launched partly through a partnership with Infront, with the company adding that it represents the world's first such interactive solution.
The product is an adaptation of Genius' original BetVision feature, which launched initially in September 2023 as an NFL-specific American football betting tool. That technology has been used over the last two years by sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Entertainment.
Genius is also currently the subject of a legal complaint by Panda Interactive, a Las Vegas-based betting data supplier.
