Genius Sports, the sports technology heavyweight, has launched a soccer-specific in-game wagering tool to be used by sportsbooks.
The product, BetVision for Soccer, has been launched partly through a partnership with Infront, the heavyweight sports marketing agency, with the company adding that it represents the world's first such interactive solution.
The product is an adaptation of Genius' original BetVision feature, which launched initially in September 2023 as an NFL-specific American football betting tool. The technology has been used over the last two years by sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Entertainment.
FanDuel was added to a deal between Genius and the other two brands in November 2023.
Genius has said its soccer solution can now be used by sportsbooks immediately to offer in-game, interactive wagering "across many of the world's leading [soccer] competitions," including men's leagues in France, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Brazil. In total, it covers over 120 properties.
The partnership with the Infront Bettor division means that Genius can offer BetVision for Soccer across the betting live streams for the myriad of soccer properties that Infront holds the relevant rights to.

By GlobalDataBetVision for Soccer uses AI to add "data-driven insights and storytelling features" to live broadcasts of games available on sportsbooks' streams, with these features including highlights of player names, and "personalized bet-tracking innovations."
Users will also be able to use a touch-to-bet function, enabling them to touch a specific player on their screen and immediately bring up player-specific betting options.
At the time of the original BetVision launch, Genius said the product represented a "uniquely personalized product that allows users to toggle on and off content and stats to create a tailored viewing experience.”
BetVision, however, is also one of the Genius products under scrutiny as part of a legal claim by Panda Interactive, a Las Vegas-based betting data supplier. A patent infringement legal action, launched in October 2023 (and also including fellow sports technology heavyweight Sportradar), accused Genius of using a range of Panda-owned patents for products including Genius’ LiveData, LiveTrading, as well as BetVision.
Parallel antitrust claims were added to the lawsuit in March, with Panda alleging that Genius and Sportradar have “forced sportsbooks and media companies into restrictive technology deals” over the last few years.
Mark Locke, Genius Sports' chief executive, has now commented: "BetVision for Soccer defines a new era of interactive sports betting and fan engagement … By uniting immersive live streaming, real-time data, and seamless in-game betting into one platform, we’re delivering a next-level experience for our customers.”
Chris Catling, head of Infront Bettor, added: "BetVision aligns perfectly with our wider product strategy, which focuses on fan engagement and making betting streams more immersive. Since launch, we’ve introduced innovations like real-time streaming and instant highlights – and this takes things a step further."
In terms of recent Genius Sports activity, last week saw an expanded deal with the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced.
The expanded partnership will give Genius Sports the rights to sell live data from all NCAA postseason tournaments through 2032, including the men’s and women’s March Madness basketball tournaments.
Financial details of the partnership have not been disclosed but it has been reported that Genius Sports and the NCAA will continue to revenue-share, as per their original agreement signed in 2018.
