Tigo Sports is owned by Millicom, a leading South American telecommunications provider (which operates through the Tigo brand in the region).
Fox is now set to launch four feeds across those Central American markets, meaning that Tigo customers in those countries will "continue enjoying their favorite sports content, now with an even more robust offering."
A new head for Fox in Central America – Leandro Lagos – has been unveiled simultaneously.
The deal covers Tigo's production network and "access to recognizable talent" as well as its sports rights.
Carlos Martinez, Fox Latin America's executive vice president and managing director, commented: "Central America is a region with a deep passion for sports, and we are excited to strengthen our presence by delivering a first-class sports service that blends local content and talent with our existing international rights.
"At the same time, I am pleased to appoint Leandro Lagos as the head of Fox in Central America to help lead our operations in the territory.”
Fox will now add its own substantial sports rights portfolio in Latin America to the Tigo portfolio, with that stable featuring top-tier soccer properties such as the English Premier League and Germany's Bundesliga. The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup men's national team tournament is also included in the list of events now available to Tigo subscribers.
Other sports covered include baseball, motor racing, US college sports, and mixed martial arts.
