The event, now to be known as the TDK Tokyo E-Prix, will run as a night race – for the first time – in TDK's home city.

In addition, TDK becomes a partner of the 2026 edition of the Formula E World Championship and will be "integrated into the race experience through a comprehensive suite of rights."

These rights will include trackside branding, being visibly present across digital and physical touchpoints at each race weekend.

Elsewhere, both parties will collaborate across a new digital content series, with TDK – lastly – set to act as an official partner of a Formula E thought-leadership summit in Tokyo.

TDK was already a sponsor of Formula E outfit McLaren Racing, through a multi-year tie-up unveiled in October 2024 (which also extends to the McLaren Shadow F1 Sim Racing Team).

That agreement has been valued by GlobalData Sport at $1 million annually.

In terms of commercial activity, earlier this month, Formula E and Cupra, a brand of Spanish carmaker Seat, announced a significant deal, including founding and title sponsorship rights to this year's inaugural Madrid ePrix.

In January, meanwhile, the series renewed its tie-up with sparkling wine brand Taittinger.
