World Table Tennis (WTT), the organization that manages commercial rights for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), has agreed a significant broadcast deal in the US with heavyweight sports broadcaster ESPN.
Through the agreement, the ESPN3 channel will serve as the exclusive broadcaster of the upcoming US Smash 2025 event, taking place in Las Vegas from July 6 to 13 at the Orleans Arena.
ESPN3’s coverage will feature every main draw match live and on demand.
WTT Grand Smashes are 11-day competitions that serve as marquee events that top the WTT pyramid, with the new US Smash serving as the first WTT Series event to be held in the market.
The Smash will consist of a men’s singles tournament and a women’s singles tournament, both made up of 64 players each, as well as a men’s doubles tournament, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, all made up of 24 pairs each.
Last month (June), Japanese free-to-air and satellite television network TV Tokyo renewed its broadcast partnership with WTT.
