International sports streaming platform DAZN has extended its major rights deal – covering the UK and the US – with prominent UK promoter Matchroom Boxing.
Through a contract renewal unveiled yesterday, DAZN will continue as the home of Matchroom Boxing fights and fighters for the next five years, and will cover over 30 bouts organized by the promoter – led by Barry and Eddie Hearn – each year.

The initial tie-up between Matchroom Boxing and DAZN dates back to mid-2021, at which point DAZN replaced UK pay-TV heavyweight Sky as the home of top fights in that market.
Sky had shown Matchroom Boxing events exclusively in the UK since 2012.
DAZN will continue to provide premium event coverage to fans in those markets, as well as "year-round original content to take fans inside the stories, camps, and rivalries."
Matchroom Boxing fighters include icons of the sport such as Anthony Joshua (pictured), Katie Taylor, Dmitry Bivol, and Jesse Rodriguez.

By GlobalDataIn addition, this overall deal also has a new element – Foxtel Group, the Australian pay-TV group owned by DAZN, now becomes Matchroom Boxing's partner in that market.
Through this tie-up, seven Matchroom Boxing events will be covered by both Foxtel itself and the affiliated Kayo streaming service this year.
DAZN acquired Foxtel Group for $2.12 billion in a deal completed last April.
Shay Segev, chief executive at DAZN Group, has said: "Our new five-year deal with Matchroom Boxing builds on the success of our longstanding partnership and reaffirms DAZN as the global home of boxing. Matchroom Boxing trusts DAZN to deliver the best experiences for the biggest fights for boxing fans everywhere."
In terms of DAZN's boxing rights, late last month, the streaming service covered UK promotion Boxxer’s ‘The World Awaits’ fight night in London, globally.
DAZN screened the event across the UK and Ireland alongside public service broadcaster the BBC and its iPlayer streaming service, and exclusively worldwide across more than 200 territories.
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport's chair, added: "DAZN is the only partner that matches our ambitions for boxing. Their global platform, investment, passion, and commitment to boxing make them the perfect partner for Matchroom Boxing’s fighters and events."
