The Spanish arm of international OTT sports streaming service DAZN has struck yet another soccer rights deal in that market, on this occasion for Portugal's top-tier Primeira Liga.
DAZN announced the two-season deal – through which it will cover three Primeira Liga matches per gameweek – via social media earlier today.

It has also been reported that the deal – announced on the same day as the 2026-27 Primeira Liga begins – covers rights to the Primeira Liga across Italy, Japan, and Belgium.
An agreement was struck between DAZN and Sportfive, the agency that handles the international distribution for the Portuguese league, covering the 2026-27 and 2027-28 campaigns of that 18-team property.
For the last 2.5 seasons, the Primeira Liga has been shown in Spain by RTP Internacional, an international channel of the Portuguese public-service broadcaster.
This represents another addition to DAZN's already-bulging soccer rights portfolio in Spain – next season, it will also put on the domestic top-tier LaLiga, as well as the other four heavyweight European soccer leagues (England's Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A, and Ligue 1 in France).
As well as this, it will show Belgian and Dutch league action for Spanish soccer fans next season.
The Premier League deal (which also covers Portugal), was announced earlier this week, and runs through 2030-31, while the tie-up with Dutch soccer's Eredivisie was also unveiled on the same day.
Shona Young, global media director at Sportfive, explained that the deal "strengthens the international visibility of Portuguese football.”
There are currently around 30 Spanish players contracted with Primeira Liga clubs, together with a handful of Belgian players, and one Japanese.
Domestically, meanwhile, the Primeira Liga is in the process of centralizing its media rights sales – from 2027-28, they will be sold altogether, as opposed to each club currently handling rights for their specific home games.
Sportfive holds global sales rights through 2027-28.
The 2026-27 Primeira Liga gets underway today, with Estoril taking on Famalicao. Porto won last year's title.
Despite not being seen as one of Europe's highest-quality competitions, the Primeira and its clubs produce a significant number of players who then go on to play for the continent's highest-profile sides.
