Danone, the international food giant, has been named as the latest sponsor of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) national teams tournament for the men’s and women’s editions.

The French brand will serve as a second-tier official partner of the men’s AFCON and a third-tier official sponsor of the WAFCON.

Danone will also work alongside the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in its CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The governing body last month agreed a renewal with Chinese technology company Tecno Mobile to sponsor the 2025 and 2027 AFCON tournaments.

CAF also recently announced a new partnership with the European Commission (EC), the executive branch of the European Union political body, covering multiple AFCON tournaments, including this year’s women’s edition.

Other AFCON partners secured in recent months include Africa Global Logistics as an official supplier in the third-tier sponsorship category, and Royal Air Maroc.

At the end of January, oil and gas giant TotalEnergies also extended its AFCON title sponsorship deal with CAF for the next four years.

Other commercial partners for AFCON include 1xBet, Puma, Orange, Rexona, and Lonaci.

The WAFCON largely has the same sponsors, with the addition of international credit card giant Visa.

The delayed 2024 women’s tournament began on July 5 and ends on July 26.

Meanwhile, the 35th edition of AFCON will be played in Morocco between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
