Broadcast deals covering the upcoming 2025 edition of soccer's FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) have been struck in six Central American countries.

The Iris Sport Media agency has brokered sub-licensing deals between global rights-holder DAZN, and broadcasters in Costa Rica (Teletica), El Salvador (Canal 4 TCS), Guatemala (TV Azteca), Honduras (Televicentro), Nicaragua (Canal 13), and Panama (Next TV).

While none of the above countries are represented at the CWC by any club sides, there are six teams in total present from North and Central America and the Caribbean – three each from the US and Mexico.

DAZN was confirmed as the worldwide rights holder for the 2025 CWC – to take place across the US between June 14 and July 13 – earlier this year, and has since unveiled a substantial number of sub-licensing deals across a range of different markets.

Iris, meanwhile, has also been charged with distributing CWC rights across sub-Saharan Africa, through a deal with DAZN that was announced at the end of February.

The inaugural edition of this revamped version of the CWC will feature 32 teams, up from fewer than 10 previously, and will now take place every four years.

In terms of other CWC sub-licensing deals, meanwhile, tie-ups have been unveiled over the last few months in Russia (Okko) and the UK (Channel 5).

In other countries in which DAZN is also a relatively minor player, for example, the US itself, similar sub-licensing deals are in place. In the US, Warner Bros. Discovery has struck a deal (as has Spanish-language TelevisaUnivision), while Mediaset has done the same in Spain and Italy.

The DAZN-FIFA deal was unveiled in advance of Saudi Arabia's Surj Sports Investments announcing earlier this year that it had taken a minority stake in the streaming service, also for $1 billion. That figure is also the total prize and appearance fund available from the event.
