The agreement will see the major company’s Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Powerade, and Smartwater drinks supplied at the Glasgow 2026 games (which begin in late July).
Coca-Cola is a returning games sponsor, having also served as the official soft drink provider for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Phil Batty, chief executive at Glasgow 2026, said: “We’re proud to welcome back one of the world’s most iconic brands to the Commonwealth Games sponsor family.
“Coca-Cola joins us with a wealth of experience in elevating spectator experience at major events, while also encouraging behaviour change when it comes to sustainability, which supports our ambition to deliver a greener games.”
Glasgow 2026 will take place between July 23 and August 2. The event will include only 10 sports and six para sports, with the games previously allocated to Victoria in Australia before financial issues forced the state to pull out, with the Scottish city stepping in last year.
In terms of recent commercial activity for the Commonwealth Games, the organizing committee partnered with Corporate and Sporting Events, the UK-based logistics solutions provider, last month and secured Chinese electric vehicle company BYD as its official car partner in February.
Coca-Cola will serve as the event’s sixth second-tier official partner alongside BYD, Trespass, Trivandi, CMS, and Allwyn, while Microplus, Dynamik, My Peak Challenge, SLX, and Inbudget are third-tier official providers of the games.
They all sit below the event’s principal partner and official timekeeper, Longines.
