US national network CBS drew almost 5 million viewers for its coverage of the final round of golf’s PGA Championship on Sunday (May 19).

This represented a 10% increase from the previous year as Xander Schauffele won his first major championship.

The 106th edition of the tournament attracted an average audience of 4.96 million.

The viewership peaked at 8.4 million as Schauffele overcame Bryson DeChambeau at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

The final hour (between 6:15pm and 7:14pm ET) averaged almost 7.8 million viewers.

Meanwhile, the Paramount+ OTT platform delivered its most-streamed PGA Championship ever, claiming double-digit year-over-year growth in households, minutes, and average minute audience.

CBS Sports provided live coverage of the PGA Championship for the 34th consecutive year and 41st time overall. 

The network shared coverage with dedicated sports broadcaster ESPN, which showed the majority of the tournament, including the Sunday morning play.

CBS and ESPN concluded the fifth year of an 11-year broadcast agreement with the PGA of America.
