By GlobalDataThe seven players in question boast 164 combined caps for the Scottish national team, and with Scotland returning to the FIFA World Cup in 2026 (for the first time since 1998), the BBC is likely banking on increased interest in their exploits ahead of the showpiece event.
DAZN’s UK rights deal for Serie A began ahead of the current season, covering all 10 matches per gameweek, eight of which are on an exclusive basis.
The other two games each week are shown by Serie A’s other rightsholder in the country, pay-TV broadcaster TNT Sports.
This is the latest addition of BBC’s growing portfolio of soccer rights, which has expanded since head of sport Alex Kay-Jelski joined in 2024.
In November 2025, the BBC secured rights to show highlights from Spain's top-tier LaLiga until 2027.
Earlier in that same week, the broadcaster also retained its highlights rights package for the top-tier UEFA Champions League pan-European competition for the 2027-31 cycle.
A month prior, BBC secured rights to show Friday night matches from Germany’s top-tier Bundesliga through 2027 and agreed a five-year deal to air live matches from UEFA’s Women’s Champions League from the 2025-26 season.
