EuroLeague Basketball, organizer of the continent’s elite EuroLeague and second-tier EuroCup, has secured a new five-year extension to its media rights deal in Spain with pay-TV operator Movistar and its Movistar Plus service.
Movister, which already holds the EuroLeague and EuroCup rights in the country through the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, has now extended its exclusive coverage of the continental competition through the 2030-31 season.
Four Spanish sides will compete in the EuroLeague in 2025-26 after the competition was expanded to 26 teams, with promoted Valencia Basket joining long-term EuroLeague sides Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Saski Baskonia.
Additionally, for the first time, Baxi Manresa will appear in the EuroCup, bringing Spanish representation to that tournament also.
Movistar Plus will cover every EuroLeague and EuroCup match featuring Spanish teams for the duration of the deal.
Additionally, the broadcaster will showcase the top two highest profile fixtures each matchweek to all subscribers, with an additional number of games, as many as five per week, further accessible through enhanced sports packages.

Speaking on the extended partnership, EuroLeague Basketball chief executive Paulius Motiejunas called Movistar “a platform widely known for [its] premium quality and excellence,” adding: “Spain remains one of our most strategic markets, and this renewal is key to ensuring the delivery of high-quality broadcasts and premium editorial content, further enhancing the fan experience.”
Movistar Plus chief executive Daniel Domenjo added: “This is a new step in Movistar Plus+'s strategy to strengthen our commitment to top-level sports and to continue shaping, in this new phase, an unmatched content offering featuring the best of the main [European sports] competitions.”
This extension was brokered by international sports and entertainment agency IMG, which is the EuroLeague’s long-term commercial rights distribution partner.
Movistar has held the rights since 2023, when it took over from streaming platform DAZN.
The continuation of Movistar’s coverage of the EuroLeague is a boon for the competition, which has faced recent setbacks in the country after Spanish heavyweights Joventut Badalona and Gran Canaria both defected to the rival FIBA Basketball Champions League (BCL) for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
With Alba Berlin having also recently defected to the BCL from the top-flight EuroLeague, the competition will look to extend media deals such as this as a show of confidence in the future of the league, despite the prospect of NBA investment in the continent looming.
