Pay-TV heavyweight Sky New Zealand will continue to air cycling’s iconic Tour de France and Vuelta a España tours after extending its long-standing partnership with event organizer Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) for another five years.
The new wide-ranging deal, starting in 2027, will see Sky NZ remain the exclusive broadcaster of ASO events in New Zealand through 2031, extending a more than 25-year relationship between the pair.

Under the deal, Sky NZ will air the men’s and women’s editions of the Tour de France and Vuelta a España (two of the three Grand Tours) as well as the men’s and women’s one-day races, including Paris-Roubaix Hauts-de-France, Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
The package also includes leading stage races such as Paris-Nice, the Tour Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Volta a Catalunya and the Santos Tour Down Under, as well as several other prestigious cycling events from across Europe and around the world.
Beyond cycling, the agreement also includes rights to other major ASO events including the Dakar Rally motor racing event.
ASO media and partnership director Julien Goupil said: “We're proud to extend a relationship that has grown over more than 25 years and brought the world's premier cycling events to New Zealand fans.
“Cycling is expanding everywhere, both on the road and behind the screens, and this renewal agreement ensures that New Zealand audiences remain part of that momentum, following the races they love through to 2031.”
Two New Zealand riders featured in the 2026 Tour de France, including national road race champion George Bennett of the NSN Cycling Team.
The 2027 Tour de France will run from July 2 to July 25, with the Grand Départ (the first three stages) hosted by Great Britain. The women’s edition, known as Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift for sponsorship reasons, will run between July 30 and August 2.
The 2027 Vuelta a España will take place from September 4 to 26, while the women’s edition will run from October 3 to 10.
Adam Crothers, Sky NZ’s head of content partnerships, said: “Few sporting events capture the imagination quite like the Tour de France, so we're delighted to extend our partnership with ASO for another five years.
"Cycling continues to have a passionate and growing fanbase in New Zealand, and this agreement ensures our customers can enjoy comprehensive coverage of the sport's most prestigious events for years to come.”
The renewal comes as Sky looks to consolidate its sports portfolio with a spate of long-term deals, recently securing an early extension to air all 380 matches from English soccer’s top-tier Premier League through the 2033-34 season.
The platform also locked in rights to show 130 fixtures of Australia’s NRL top-tier rugby league competition through 2034 and struck an agreement to air all home international fixtures played by the England men’s and women’s cricket teams, as well as English domestic cricket, through 2030.
The cricket rights add to the broadcaster’s existing coverage of cricket as New Zealand Cricket’s domestic rights partner through 2031-32, while deals are also in place with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and for cricket in India and Australia.
