FanCode, the Indian digital sports-focused streaming service, has secured exclusive rights in the country to air this year’s edition of the Ryder Cup, golf’s premier men’s tournament between Team Europe and Team US.

The deal, struck with the PGA of America, comes shortly before Team Europe attempts to retain its title at the Bethpage Black golf course in New York from September 26 to 28, and will see FanCode provide coverage of the entire tournament.

FanCode co-founder Yannick Colaco said: “FanCode is committed to giving Indian fans access to the world’s most iconic sporting events, and the Ryder Cup is right at the top of that list.

“It’s more than golf—it’s a showcase of passion, rivalry, and national pride. We’re proud to be the home for golf in India and to bring this legendary contest to fans here like never before.”

The Ryder Cup adds to FanCode’s other live golf rights in the country, including the PGA Tour, Ladies European Tour, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf, as well as top-tier tournaments such as the Masters, the Open Championship, the US Open, and the PGA Championship.

Casey Morton, PGA of America’s senior director of global media, production, and wagering, said: “FanCode has been the home of golf in India, and this partnership is a natural reflection of that.

“All golf fans can look forward to catching the best players in action at this year’s edition of the Ryder Cup.”

The deal comes as the Ryder Cup looks to expand its global footprint, most recently securing a broadcast partnership with pan-regional pay-TV sports network SPOTV covering Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Macau, Laos, Myanmar, and Mongolia

Last week, it also renewed its rights deal with UK public service broadcaster the BBC until 2029, with the public service broadcaster providing live radio coverage, daily 90-minute highlights programmes, and digital clips.

The main rightsholder for the Ryder Cup in the UK is pay-TV operator Sky, which drew a record 3.7 million viewers for its coverage of the last edition in 2023. The broadcaster’s contract, last renewed in 2022, is due to expire after this year’s tournament.

The next European edition will be held at Adare Manor, Ireland, in 2027, while Minnesota’s Hazeltine National Golf Club has been chosen as the host of the 2029 edition in the US.

Most recently, the tournament organizers confirmed its 2031 edition will be hosted by the Camiral Golf and Wellness Resort in Girona, Spain.

Meanwhile, wearable technology company Whoop has been named as the official health and fitness wearable of this year’s Ryder Cup as part of its new sponsorship deal.

The partnership will see Whoop provide US audiences tuning into the NBC network’s coverage of the tournament with heart rate data from US and Europe team members, including Justin Thomas, Tyrrell Hatton, and Ben Griffin, as well as captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald, who will be wearing the tech.

Along with its NBC integration, Whoop will use the partnership to launch social media campaigns, brand media placements, press activity, and strategic partnerships.

Jeff Price, chief commercial officer of the PGA of America, said: “The Ryder Cup continually delivers unmatched energy and drama on golf’s biggest stage, and WHOOP will now give spectators a front row seat to the science of elite performance.

“Together, we are bringing viewers closer to the intensity of golf’s greatest team event than ever before.”

The new partnership comes on the back of Whoops' growing portfolio of golf ambassadors, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and sisters Nelly and Jessica Korda.
