UK pay-TV sports network Premier Sports will provide coverage of this summer's Concacaf Gold Cup men's national teams soccer tournament.

Premier Sports – which operates as a set of linear channels as well as a streaming platform – unveiled its coverage of the Gold Cup, the top-tier competition for men's national soccer teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean, yesterday (June 5).

This year, the tournament will contain 16 teams and is being held across the US and Canada between June 14 and July 6, with 14 venues being used in total.

The previous edition of the biennial tournament, held in 2023 (also by Canada and the US), was aired in the UK by Viaplay, the Scandinavian media group which at that point owned Premier Sports.

However, as a result of encountering significant financial issues in 2023, Viaplay had to retreat from many of the European expansion markets it had been building a presence in over the previous few years.

As a consequence, it then sold its UK business back to Premier Sports, with that deal completed last April.

Premier Sports has covered the event before, in 2021, while before that, broadcasters including ESPN and BT Sport (now TNT Sports) held rights at various times.

Players who could potentially be involved at the Gold Cup who play their club soccer in the UK include Jamaica's Mason Holgate and Leon Bailey, Mexico's Edson Alvarez, and the US duo of Chris Richards and Tyler Adams.

Other soccer properties shown in the UK by Premier Sports include Spain's domestic LaLiga, through a partnership with LaLiga TV, as well as national team action from South American qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup.

For the Gold Cup, meanwhile, German broadcaster Sportdigital announced a rights deal in late May. Sportdigital will air all 31 games from the event across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).

Domestically, the tournament will air in the US through Fox (English-language) and TelevisaUnivision (Spanish-language).
