The organizers of the multi-sport European Games have brought in Imagina – the new name for Spanish sports production and rights agency Mediapro – as the event's host broadcast partner for its 2027 edition.

Through a tie-up unveiled today, Imagina will produce and distribute the official world feed for the European Games, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkiye, between June 16 and 27 next year.

This represents an extension for Imagina, which served in the same capacity for the 2023 European Games in Krakow, Poland.

Imagina was chosen following what it has called a "competitive tender process" by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) body which runs the event.

For the 26-sport European Games, Imagina will produce multiple live feeds of every discipline and medal ceremony, and has said that "cutting-edge technology and wide-ranging editorial coverage" will feature.

Imagina will technically continue to be called Grup Mediapro until the end of this year, before rebranding as Imagina – this decision was unveiled in mid-September, with the group's parent company carrying the same name.

The move came as part of a significant wider review into the group's operations, and several months of internal reorganization.

For the European Games, meanwhile, Italian technology firm Microplus was named as a key technology partner for the event last month.

In June, the EOC unveiled a renewal of its rights deal with the European Broadcasting Union, the continent's association of public-service broadcasters.

For Imagina, its history of acting as host broadcast partner for multi-sport events also includes previous deals covering the 2019 and 2023 editions of the Pan American Games.
