Global basketball’s governing body, FIBA, has doubled down on its coverage in Italy by renewing its partnership with sports streaming service DAZN.
The new four-year agreement builds on the pair’s original deal, struck in 2023, and gives DAZN rights to air all qualifiers and major FIBA competitions across Italy until 2029, including the women’s and men’s World Cups in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

The deal consolidates the visibility of FIBA competitions in Italy, having already sold a similar package of rights to pay-TV heavyweight Sky Italia earlier this week.
DAZN’s coverage starts with FIBA’s Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, which will see Italy host Iceland today before heading to Lithuania for a match as the national team looks to book its place in the Basketball World Cup 2027 being staged in Doha, Qatar.
The package includes all FIBA women’s qualifications and major tournaments, including the Italian team’s matches at the Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament being staged in Puerto Rico in March.
Along with the women’s and men’s World Cups, DAZN will also air the Continental Cup and qualifiers across the next rights cycle, including the Women’s Eurobasket in 2027 and 2029, and men’s Eurobasket 2029.

Stefano Azzi, chief executive of DAZN Italia, stated: "FIBA competitions have been a cornerstone of our international basketball offering since 2023. We are renewing that commitment with a package that brings four more years of elite global basketball to DAZN."
He added: "We are thrilled to give visibility to major competitions where the Azzurri will be at the forefront."
The deal also adds to the growing list of media partners secured this week, ahead of FIBA’s World Cup 2027 qualifiers, which started with Brazilian sports streaming channel CazeTV and continued with yesterday’s triple announcement unveiling deals with Sky Italia (Italy), Nelonen Media (Finland), and ESPN Africa (sub-Saharan Africa).
FIBA has been consolidating its broadcast partnerships throughout the year, landing agreements until 2029 with ProSiebenSat 1 and Deutsche Telekom in Germany, as well as pay-TV heavyweight BeIN Sports and commercial broadcaster TF1 in France.
Other territories to land rights deals this year include Australia (ESPN), the Philippines (Cignal), Canada (Bell Media), China (Migu), and Denmark (Sport Live).
