Extreme H, the nascent hydrogen-powered off-road racing series, has extended its broadcast deal across Asia with SPOTV, the pan-regional pay-TV sports network, for 2025.

SPOTV has been a broadcast partner since season one of Extreme E, and the renewal will see coverage expanded to the debut of Extreme H.

The network will provide coverage in Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The deal includes live and highlights coverage across both linear and digital platforms through the SPOTV and SPOTV 2 channels, with additional access through the SPOTV Now streaming service. Programming will be available in English.

Extreme H is the hydrogen-based spinoff of Extreme E, which started in 2021 but canceled the remainder of its 2024 season after events in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Scotland to prioritize the series’ transition to hydrogen.

Extreme E will make a one-off return for a final event in Saudi Arabia from October 4 to 5 before the start of the Extreme H World Cup, which was launched through a multi-year deal with motor racing’s governing body, the FIA, as a replacement for Extreme E.

The new hydrogen event will feature an off-road race format to showcase the viability of hydrogen power as a clean energy solution. Organizers will also prioritize gender parity within motorsports by fielding teams that have an equal number of male and female drivers.

Extreme H recently unveiled Saudi Arabian city Qiddiya as the host of its inaugural World Cup.

The first Extreme H World Cup will run from October 9 to 11.

The FIA initially planned for Extreme H to become an official world championship for 2026, but in December last year, it announced the launch of the Extreme H World Cup this year instead.

In recent months, Extreme H has been consolidating its broadcast stable ahead of its debut season.

In May, the series announced a significant rights deal in India with Sony Pictures Network stretching across linear and digital platforms and secured international sports broadcaster ESPN for coverage in Latin America, covering Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.

US broadcaster Fox Sports announced it had agreed a three-year rights deal for Extreme H running through the 2027 campaign, which it will air on its FS1 and FS2 channels.

Italian broadcaster Mediaset, meanwhile, struck a deal to cover the 2025 Extreme H season after holding the rights to Extreme E since 2021.

The competition will also be shown in the UK by commercial broadcaster ITV and Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) TNT Sports, while WBD also has rights in more than 50 territories across Europe via its Eurosport channels, and HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming platforms.
