Endeavor Streaming, the streaming platform and services provider and subsidiary of the international entertainment agency giant, and Frequency, the linear streaming platform, have partnered to offer a “one-stop-shop” for direct-to-consumer services and ‘virtual linear channels’.
The tie-up, described as a “first-of-its-kind” by the pair, is aimed at giving content creators, rightsholders, and brands across sports, lifestyle, media, and entertainment a way to build and operate so-called virtual linear channels on free ad-supported TV (FAST) streaming platforms like Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, and Pluto TV.
Central to the offer, which is available now, is support for the distribution and monetization of such channels.
The collaboration combines Endeavor’s site for powering and operating direct-to-consumer applications across streaming devices with Frequency’s FAST channel creation platform, Frequency Studio.
Endeavor Streaming began its life as the IPTV service provider NeuLion, which was founded in 2004.
It struck numerous partnerships with major sports properties, such as North American ice hockey’s NHL, US cable and satellite television network the Tennis Channel, and mixed martial arts' Ultimate Fighting Championship before being acquired by Endeavor in 2018 and ultimately absorbed into the company’s streaming operation.
Today, Endeavor Streaming has partnerships with the likes of basketball's NBA, UFC, American football’s NFL, and the WWE wrestling promotion.
Frequency, meanwhile, was founded in 2010 and is based in Los Angeles, US. It claims that its network is integrated with every leading FAST platform in the world and that Frequency Studio already delivers channels to over 250 million connected TVs via FAST platforms.
Matt Starker, senior vice president and head of corporate strategy at Endeavor Streaming, said: “We are incredibly excited about our partnership and the expansion of streaming services that we can offer to both existing and new clients across a range of verticals.
“We spent a significant amount of time looking for the right platform in the FAST space and chose Frequency. Our combined capabilities will alleviate meaningful operational overhead for our clients, allowing them to increase the consumer reach of their content and maximize their streaming revenues across multiple business models. We’re delighted to call Frequency our partners.”
Jon Cohen, senior vice president of business development and distribution at Frequency, added: “The past two years have marked rapid growth for Frequency, and the timing is perfect to announce our first B2B partner, Endeavor Streaming.
“The combination of our streaming technologies, superior tools, and customer support will benefit all content providers seeking a truly integrated technology solution from trusted partners.”
