Global basketball governing body FIBA has extended its partnership with the European Broadcasters Union (EBU), the coalition of public-service TV networks on the continent, covering the organization’s slate of 3×3 basketball events.
This extension, which begins immediately and runs through 2028, will cover major 3×3 events across the series’ calendar, including the World Championships, European Championships, and more.
The deal began with the recent 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, which was held from June 23 to 29 in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia.
FIBA’s new EBU accord will cover public service broadcasters in Austria (ORF), Belgium (VRT), Lithuania (LRT), the Netherlands (NOS), Poland (TVP), Switzerland (SRG SSR), Turkey (TRT), and Ukraine (Suspilne).
Having secured women’s gold at the event, the Netherlands will be a territory where 3×3 basketball is of particular interest, as will Switzerland, which secured men’s silver, while Lithuania is a prominent basketball market in its own right.
Broadcast coverage of FIBA 3×3 will be tailored in each territory to suit their respective national teams.

By GlobalDataThe existing 3×3 accord between FIBA and the EBU was agreed in 2023.
Under the renewed partnership, the next event covered by the EBU will be the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup, which will take place from September 5 through September 7 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Speaking on the partnership, EBU Sport director of acquisitions, sales, and partnerships, Adrian Fikentscher, commented: “Our Members are central to ensuring high-quality sport reaches as many people as possible, free-to-air across Europe and beyond.
“This extended partnership deepens our collaboration with FIBA and highlights how public service media can champion fast-growing sports disciplines like 3×3 basketball, connecting these events with diverse audiences across both broadcast and digital platforms.”
FIBA’s renewal with the EBU for 3×3 basketball piggybacks off of 2024’s major partnership between the two for the governing body’s slate of major national team basketball events.
That four-year deal, which begins in November 2025, will run through 2029, covering every game played by each member’s national team, as well as inclusive broadcast rights for major tournaments such as EuroBasket and the FIBA World Cup.
