Global sports streaming service DAZN has picked up more US college American football and basketball rights for the international market after agreeing a sublicensing deal with national network Fox covering several conferences.

The bulk of the multi-year agreement involves Fox Sports’ Big Ten coverage, which will see DAZN stream all of the network's regular-season football games (24 to 32 per season), as well as this year’s championship game, globally.

The package of Big Ten rights also includes a slate of men’s and women’s basketball games, and the 24-hour Big Ten Network feed featuring highlights, shoulder programming, and other related content.

The deal also includes all of Fox Sports’ football games from the Big 12 Conference, some football games from the Mountain West Conference, and basketball games from the Big 12 and Big East conferences.

DAZN said most college games covered under the deal will be exclusive to its platform and will be available free-to-air for a limited time.

Fox holds the majority of Big Ten rights alongside US networks CBS and NBC via a long-term deal running between the 2023-24 and 2029-30 academic years, worth around $7.5 billion.

Under that deal, Fox airs 24 to 32 football games per season, as well as the championship game in 2025, 2027, and 2029, while NBC carries 14 to 16 games each season and the title game in 2026. CBS broadcasts 14 to 15 football games per season and the title game in 2028.

The new rights follow on from DAZN agreeing a major sublicensing deal with Disney-owned sports broadcaster ESPN covering a slate of football and basketball fixtures for the European and MENA region.

Under that deal, DAZN will showcase around 20 games per week from the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball championships throughout the season, as well as 63 games of the major annual NCAA March Madness men’s and women’s national championship tournaments.

In terms of college football, DAZN will air 25 games a week across the regular season from ‘power four’ conferences such as the ACC, Big 12, and the SEC.

This will also include the post-season College Football Playoffs and the national championship game, alongside other prominent “Bowl Games” that ESPN holds the rights for, in addition to the weekly College GameDay shoulder program.

The two agreements mean DAZN now holds international rights to content from the Big Ten, Southeastern, Big 12, Big East, Mountain West, and Atlantic Coast conferences, marking the largest collegiate athletic programs in the US.

The rights also add to DAZN’s American sports rights portfolio for the international market, having secured rights for the NFL’s Game Pass, ice hockey’s NHL, and the recently completed FIFA Club World Cup held across the US.
