Over three days, around 2000 participants representing 70 countries and 795 companies came together to collaborate and accelerate development across the sports media landscape, with technology taking centre stage in shaping the future of the industry.

Central to the conference was the cohort of industry leaders that shared their knowledge and strategies for the future during sessions at the Speakers Stage, including a keynote from the president of Spanish soccer’s LaLiga, Javier Tebas, revealing the league’s latest solutions in media as it looks to spread its global reach.

Technology was at the heart of the event, with sessions featuring the latest innovations that are helping broadcasters, federations, leagues, and teams grow their fanbases and revenue streams, while many highlighted the importance of authentic storytelling to keep audiences engaged throughout the calendar.

Speaking to Sportcal at the event, Loris Menoni, Executive Director of Sportel Monaco, said the event had continued to attract the biggest names in the sports industry, with organizers looking to grow that number further for the next edition.

The next Sportel conference will be in Singapore from March 24 to 25, 2026, at Orchard Hotel, while Sportel Monaco 2026 will be held from October 19 to 21 at Grimaldi Forum.

He said: “The strength of Sportel is its market, and we want this community to keep coming together in Monaco to exchange, to discuss, and to see the trends of sports business and media.

“So, for us, it’s really one goal – to keep this community together, and it's great that they all want to be present here.

Addressing the main themes discussed at the event, Menoni said AI had featured heavily among participants, adding: “We have more and more players coming to talk about that to enhance production, increase engagement with fans, so they are trying to incorporate this new technology.

“It's not only in sport, but everywhere – in cinemas, movies, everywhere. You can’t replace the athletes on the field, but for sure, AI will change the way of production moving forward.”

Looking ahead to the 2026 edition of the event, Menoni said, along with attracting key leaders from the sports industry, they would look to attract new faces, growing leagues, and new businesses to keep things fresh.

He said: “For the next one, we will try and maintain the same level or quality because this is important for us to have the key leaders in Monaco, and if we can get all the decision makers in a room to conclude deals, engage in some conversation that’ll be a good event for sure.

“We have new players from one year to another, and it's important that we welcome new actors, new companies to the ecosystem along with the traditional ones, which will drive innovation and bring fresh ideas to the table.”
