World Table Tennis, the new commercial vehicle of the International Table Tennis Federation, has announced the launch of the host bidding process for the 2022 WTT Series.
The WTT Series, which features an innovative event format, comprises four Grand Smashes, eight single-gender WTT Champions events, the WTT Contender Series and the season-ending WTT Cup Finals.
Offers are invited from member associations, cities or countries, event promoters and/or government organisations, with interested parties requested to email events@worldtabletennis.com for further information and host application documents.
Following the staging of the inaugural WTT Contender Series in Doha in March, WTT said it is already in talks with several cities about hosting events later this year, and with several member associations to stage events in 2022.
Stephen Duckitt, event strategy director at WTT, said: “Hosting a WTT event provides an incredible opportunity to become part of a truly global sport that is in the process of being re-defined, re-imaged and re-energised.
“Our new World Table Tennis structure allows host cities to showcase table tennis to their city and their city’s iconic locations and landmarks to the world. Now is the time for cities to join the challenge and become a part of the new era of professional table tennis.”
