Subway replaces McDonald's as official sponsor of NFL
Subway, the chain of sandwich outlets, has become an official sponsor of American football's NFL, replacing fast food giant McDonald's in the quick-service restaurant category.
Subway and the NFL have penned a multi-year deal, effective 10 September for the start of the 2020 season, giving the company exclusive marketing rights and access to activation opportunities at NFL events.
It has been the presenting partner of the NFL's international games in London since 2017.
Carrie Walsh, chief marketing officer of Subway, said: “We know Subway fans are football fans and our footlongs have always been the perfect game night food, so we are proud to make the connection official with this multi-year NFL partnership.”
Aside from the NFL, Subway will also be a sponsor of NFL Flag, the league’s flag football programme for children between the ages of five and 17, and NFL Play 60, the league’s national youth health and wellness campaign that promotes 60 minutes of daily exercise.
