USTA Appoints New Director of Tennis

The United States Tennis Association has appointed Bill Mountford to the position of Director of Tennis at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

Mountford assumed his new position on May 24, 2001, and his responsibilities include developing tennis training programs, promoting National Tennis Center events and hiring teaching staff. The USTA National Tennis Center is the nation’s largest public tennis facility, in addition to being the home of the US Open.

Mountford, 33, brings a strong combination of tennis, management and volunteer experience to the USTA National Tennis Center. His tennis experience includes being a ranked junior, collegiate player and international satellite touring professional with the ATP.

‘This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work with such a terrific staff at an outstanding facility,’ said Mountford. I look forward to supporting the USTA’s mission to promote and develop the game of tennis.’
