Visiting Fellow of the World Academy of Sport Richard Bunn is one of the key originators of the new “World Netball Series” to be held in Manchester from the 9-11 of October 2009. This is a new and exciting world first for the International Netball Federation (IFNA).
By working with IFNA to create a new competition format bringing together the six leading international netball federations under a new rule format, Bunn and IFNA have set about to create a netball series more understandable and appealing to the television viewer and to further expand Netball worldwide through broadcast exposure of the sport at the highest level.
Having a long and distinguished career in Broadcasting dating back to the late 60’s with ITV and for 22 years in charge of sport programming at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Richard has been at the forefront of the development of sport and major event broadcasting. This has seen him working on six Summer and six Winter Olympic Games, seven Football World Cups as well as being a member of the FIFA evaluation team for the 2002 Cup and most international sports events distributed by the EBU.
Richard commented “In the competitive world of sports broadcasting, sport must consider new ways of finding support, especially with the young. IFNA has shown its willingness to change by introducing this event with new rules that should make the sport more attractive and accessible to the audience”
Richard today runs rbi network in Geneva and is the Television advisor to international sporting federations such as the International Ski Federation (FIS) and International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF).
Regularly lecturing on Academy programmes Richard will next present on the Academy’s 5 Day International Event Administration Programme from the 12 to 16 of October 2009.
