Multiplex has noted unattributed speculation in the media regarding substantial cost and time delays on the Wembley stadium project. Such speculation is untrue. Multiplex confirms that work at Wembley is continuing as scheduled.

Multiplex is taking all steps necessary to mitigate the effects of Cleveland Bridge UK’s recent decision to withdraw from the National Stadium Project.

Notwithstanding Cleveland Bridge UK’s decision to withdraw from the Wembley project, Multiplex remains hopeful that Cleveland Bridge UK will comply with its legal obligation to take all steps necessary in ensuring that its decision will cause the least possible disruption to the orderly continuation of the project under Multiplex’s management.

Multiplex had initiated claims against Cleveland Bridge UK in respect of earlier work on the National Stadium Project and has reserved its position in respect of Cleveland Bridge UK’s recent decision to withdraw from the project. Further, though Cleveland Bridge UK has itself stated its intention to commence legal proceedings against Multiplex, Multiplex has not received details of any such proceedings. If and when Cleveland Bridge UK does initiate proceedings, these will be vigorously defended by Multiplex.

In the meantime, Multiplex is making all necessary arrangements for the orderly continuation of steel and related work at the Wembley site, notwithstanding Cleveland Bridge UK’s recent actions, and will continue to do so irrespective of whether or not Cleveland Bridge UK co-operates in this regard.
