Uefa, European soccer’s governing body, has begun the tender process for identifying companies to provide logistics and transportation services across four Uefa national team competitions over the next four years.

The company selected will be charged with organising and sending material from Uefa’s main warehouse in Belgium to each national association involved in the quartet of national team competitions and events up until 2025.

The tender covers the next two editions of the Nations League – in 2022 and 2024 – as well as the European qualifiers for both Uefa 2024 (with the qualifiers taking place in 2023) and for the 2026 Fifa World Cup (with those qualifiers to take place in 2025).

The invitation to express interest was published on Friday 22 October, and the deadline for these submissions is 29 October. A letter from all interested suppliers signifying interest should be sent to nicolas.berta@uefa.ch by 18:00 Central European Time on the latter date.

The deadline for the tender proposals themselves is 19 November, with the chosen supplier to be appointed, subject to contract, on 17 December.

Companies interested in taking part in the tender should, before asking for the tender documents themselves, send Uefa a description of proven experience in transport and logistics at major live events, evidence of “sufficient resources and appropriate infrastructure”, an overview of the technical equipment the firm owns, three years of annual financial reports, an organisational chart and “proof of strong financial standing.”

Uefa has already initiated two major sponsorship tender processes in the last week, one covering cryptocurrency rights across the next three years of its prestigious men’s Champions League club competition and the other covering rights in a range of sectors – including automotive, travel, logistics and food delivery – for its men’s national team competitions up until 2028.

The crypto and NFT tender, which Uefa is working on with its club competitions' commercial agency Team Marketing, invites bids from companies interested in securing licensing rights in the cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFT) space, for the prestigious Uefa Champions League, the body's flagship competition.

Meanwhile, the national team’s sponsorship packages, which Uefa has launched alongside CAA Eleven, cover a range of sectors, including “auto, mobility, travel, logistics, food delivery, grocery/supermarket, beer and non-alcoholic drinks”, and cover all major Uefa national team competitions between 2022 and 2028.

The governing body has been active in terms of its tenders recently, having also sent out a request for proposals (RFP) last week to companies interested in selling commercial rights to its club competitions from 2024-25 onwards – a position currently occupied by Team Marketing.

It has been reported that this latter set of rights could extend for six seasons from that point if the right partner is found.

The tender, which interested parties can request details on by contacting uccrfpbids@uefa.ch, has been issued despite Team having held this collection of rights since the Champions League was launched in the 1992-93 season and, therefore, signals a significant threat to that agency’s flagship property.
